MITIGATING THE RISKS OF COVID-19 VIRUS SPREAD

Updated as of 8/21/20

Friday, 8/21: Roxbury Innovation Center programs continue to operate virtually

Dear RIC Community,

In collaboration with the Bolling Building and BPS, Roxbury Innovation Center’s physical spaces remained closed to the public. While this summer has not been what we originally imagined, our programs are still running on schedule in the virtual space, including educational workshops, LAUNCH! Pre-Accelerator, and Pitch Night.

We are excited to team up with our community partner, EforAll, to again host our annual Pitch Night in Roxbury! Applications to pitch are now open – apply here or RSVP to attend the event. Grow your network, make meaningful connections, and witness up and coming businesses in the Greater Roxbury region—all in one evening!

We look forward to continuing to connect with you all virtually. If we can be of further assistance with anything, please don’t hesitate to drop us a line.

Best,

The Roxbury Innovation Center Team

Friday, 6/12: Release of Venture Café New England’s Site Reopening + Safety Plan

Dear RIC Community,

We get it, the past few months have been challenging to say the least. The question now is, where do we go from here?

Our team at Roxbury Innovation Center is all about innovation. We have been busy working behind the scenes to change with and adapt to the current times. We have pivoted our educational + networking program offerings online, ensuring that small businesses + entrepreneurs have the resources they need at a time when they need it the most.
We have strategized on how we can safely offer collaborative workspaces and meeting rooms moving forward.
We have also been having important and honest conversations about equality. When our doors open again within the next few weeks, things will look a little different.

We encourage you to read our Venture Café New England Site Reopening + Safety Plan and to take our quick follow-up survey. Please use the survey to share your thoughts + opinions on reopening with us. We want to hear from you!

We look forward to welcoming you back into our spaces soon.

Best,

The Roxbury Innovation Center Team

Tuesday, 4/28: Roxbury Innovation Center Closure Extended Until Further Notice

Dear RIC Community,

Today, Governor Baker announced the extension of the closure of non-essential businesses until May 18. With the stay-at-home advisory and limit on gatherings still in effect, we understand the need to put the health and safety of our guests and employees first. Roxbury Innovation Center will be closed until further notice. We will continue to monitor the state and city guidelines on reopening which will provide direction for our decision making moving forward. Our team has been busy behind the scenes pivoting our programs to fully virtual + improving our event booking processes. The free, public programs we offer to entrepreneurs and small businesses, inspiring them and connecting them to the resources they need, is vital during this time.

We encourage our community to use this time to connect virtually and keep the conversation active. We will update on our next steps once the information is available.

Thank you for your patience, compassion, and understanding during these unprecedented times.

Friday, 3/13: Subject: Roxbury Innovation Center Update on Public Workspace, Hours and More Regarding COVID-19

Dear RIC Community,

We want to provide you a direct update as we proceed during the current challenges presented by the COVID-19 virus.

We have and will continue to take precautions to operate a safe, clean public workspace as we monitor the COVID-19 virus. Currently, our workspace remains open to our community members.  Future workshops and programs remain as planned unless you receive a notice from us directly to cancel.

At this time, we have no reportsof COVID-19 related to our space. If you have visited our space and have been diagnosed with COVID-19, please inform the proper authorities and they can take the appropriate steps to inform our organization.

Changes While We Monitor COVID-19

Workspace Hours

Monday – Friday 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Coffee + Tea

Our onsite coffee + tea station remains open, in light of the news, please bring your own mug/cup so we limit shared use of cups.

Space Etiquette

If you are symptomatic of an illness, from the common cold to the flu, please refrain from coming to the workspace. If you appear overtly ill, you may be asked to come back at a later time. This is all in the spirit of keeping everyone as healthy as we can.

We will be encouraging social distancing and recommending that all guests in the space sit one meter (3 feet) apart.

RIC Cleanliness Actions

Our goal is to help the entire RIC community stay safe and healthy.

  • RIC will continue to be professionally cleaned each day.
  • We perform additional cleanings of common-area surfaces and high-traffic areas throughout the day.
  • We have installed additional hand sanitizer dispensers in our meeting spaces.

Help Us Help You

Here are the things you can do to slow the spread of this disease:

  • If you have visited our space and have been diagnosed with COVID-19, please inform the proper authorities and they can take the appropriate steps to inform our organization.
  • Take your temperature before coming to our space.
  • Stay home and self-quarantine for 14 days if you have symptoms / exposure risk. The symptoms to watch for are fever of 99.14+, cough, or shortness of breath.
  • Go home if you develop COVID-19 symptoms during the day.
  • Wash your hands frequently + don’t touch your face.
  • When coughing and sneezing, cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – discard tissue immediately.
  • Replace meetings and visits with video.
  • Spread out in our workspace to maintain social distancing.
  • Avoid shaking hands.

Please know that these decisions have been made with measured and careful thought, as we look for ways to reduce as much risk as possible while still maintaining the integrity of our space.

We continue to monitor the situation with the City of Boston and the State of Massachusetts and will update accordingly.

We encourage you to become familiar with the World Health Organization’s suggested safety precautions.

Thank you for your patience, compassion, and understanding during these concerning times.
