Event and Marketing Coordinator (Full Time Position)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage event inquiries, data collection, and communication with programming clients, partners, and speakers throughout the entire event planning process.
Support event marketing including digital and social media tactics.
Coordinate end-to-end event logistics for monthly Café Nights (pre-event, onsite-logistics, and post-event) for a variety of session types (roundtables, panels, presentations, hackathons, alliance events, etc.).
Support content planning and create marketing strategies for Café Nights, small business workshops, and other RIC independent programming to engage community members, small businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators.
Create storytelling modules for RIC independent events to collect experience videos of community members.
Maintain records and event performance metrics to target quarterly goals and structure event decision-making.
Conduct post-event evaluations to determine how future events could be improved.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Associate’s Degree (Marketing, Hospitality, Event Planning, Project Management knowledge strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge of meeting, events, and sponsorship management principle
  • Familiarity with Boston’s entrepreneurship – innovation ecosystem is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of WordPress/web design.
  • Experience creating graphics design for social media, flyers, and newsletters (i.e. Canva)

SKILLS:

  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and time-management skills.
  • Skill in making effective and timely decisions.

ABILITIES:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in hospitality or meeting and event management including onsite logistics experience and speaker engagement.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with all forms of technology and on both Mac and PC platforms.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others.
  • Ability to interact pleasantly and positively with others to meet customer expectations, and provide follow up with customers.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Website Design and Development (Contractor)

Program Description

Roxbury Innovation Center in collaboration with Madison Park Development Corporation is hosting an 7 week Summer Immersion program for 65 Roxbury youth. The students will select 1 of 3 instructional tracks which include Product Design and Development, Website Design and Development, and Entrepreneurship.

The Website Design and Development Instructor is responsible for teaching 22-23 students the fundamentals of website design and development using HTML/CSS and WordPress Templates. Each student is to complete a website during the course of the program. Students will present their websites as part of the MPDC end of Summer presentation on August 18th.

 

Instructor Duties

  • Plan and develop curriculum for the instruction of 23 students who will develop a website over the 8 week course.
  • Evaluate and select instructional materials such as software, and work with RIC staff to have software preloaded onto designated computers.
  • Provide website design and development instruction to students through weekly lectures and assignment of appropriate activities.
  • Work with designated Madison Park Development Corporation staff member to maintain attendance records, manage the classroom environment, and prepare students for end of summer project presentation.
  • Attend and participate in end of summer RIC and Madison Park Development presentation.

 

Time Commitment

  • 35 total program hours
    • 25 instructional hours (2:00pm – 500pm: dates below)

Programming Instructor (Contractor)

Program Description

Roxbury Innovation Center hosts a 6 week STEAM Summer Immersion Program for 20-24 students, ranging in age between 7 and 14. The students attend RIC 4 days a week for 8 hours. The 3 hour morning session focuses on Product Design and Development in collaboration with a local small business. This year the afternoon session will focus on teaching students programming.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Requires a minimum of an associate’s degree
  • Must have experience in C++ programming.
  • Instructional experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a learning experience that links the application with formal learning.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented system, deal effectively with professional staff, other part-time faculties, adult, and culturally diverse students.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals and documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, and Program Coordinator.
  • Ability to effectively present information in writing and orally to students.

  • 80 total program hours
    • 72 instructional hours
    • 8 hours of curriculum development and classroom preparation
