It gives investors and customers insight into your business. Your pitch is the heart of all of your messaging and conversations about your brand. In our Pitch Accelerator you will learn exactly what you need communicate about yourself and your business, by constructing a comprehensive and compelling pitch for your idea or small business! These series of workshops are designed to teach early stage entrepreneurs and business owners how to properly organize a pitch to obtain grant and investor funding.

OUR GOAL:

An invitation to participate in innovation isn’t the same as creating pathways for true access. Historically, leaders often have declined to actively engage a number of already under-represented communities. To address this, Roxbury Innovation Center, leads a Pitch Accelerator in Roxbury directed at improving overall equity and economic mobility.

Workshop Overview

A 1-hour workshop designed to teach both aspiring and current entrepreneurs and business owners how to create an engaging Pitch and Story!

The first steps for your startup are clear: You have an idea, you are founding your company, you are building your product and you need a pitch deck. Why is a pitch important? As long as you want to gain customers, expand awareness of your business, raise funding or convince business partners to work with you, a pitch deck is essential. It gives investors and customers insight into your business. Even huge companies like Facebook and Google started with a pitch deck. Your pitch is the heart of all of your messaging and conversations about your brand.

In this 1-hour workshop put on by Roxbury Innovation Center, you will learn exactly what you need communicate about yourself and your business, by constructing a comprehensive and compelling pitch for your idea or small business! This workshop is designed to teach early stage entrepreneurs and business owners how to properly organize a pitch to obtain grant and investor funding.

After this event, apply for our Pitch competition!  This will workshop will help you build a strong application and pitch deck to improve your chances to be selected to pitch.  This is non-mandatory but highly recommended!

Workshop Overview

A 1-hour workshop on how to tell your story in 3-minutes.  What are you working on? It’s a common question heard in many startup circles. If you are able to answer that question appropriately, it could lead to cofounders, team members, and partners, funders and lots of customers. Can you convey the essence of your business’ unique value without eyes glossing over? This workshop will teach you how to effectively explain what you do to key stakeholders.

Ten applications will be accepted to Pitch at Pitch Night. If you are not selected, we encourage you to attend the evening to watch, learn and appy in the future!

The ten applicants chosen for Pitch Night will be required to attend a mandatory 1-hour meeting with our team to further develop their pitch decks.  Dates and times will be sent directly to you.

Prep Session

The ten applicants chosen for Pitch Night will be required to attend a mandatory 1-hour meeting with our team to further develop their pitch decks.  Dates and times will be sent directly to you. This is an opportunity to share your current pitch deck with our team, practice your pitch and refine details to prepare you for the big Pitch night!  This is a mandatory session.

The ten applicants chosen for Pitch Night will be required to record their pitch and share with our team of experts. This is an opportunity to share and practice your pitch and gain expert advice.  This is a mandatory session.

Step 6: 30-Minute Pre-Pitch Practice Session

The ten applicants chosen for Pitch Night will be invited to attend a 30-minute meeting with our team to practice their pitch prior to Pitch Night.  Dates and times will be sent directly to you. This is an opportunity to further practice your pitch!

Prep Session

The ten applicants chosen for Pitch Night will be required to record their pitch and share with our team of experts. This is an opportunity to share and practice your pitch and gain expert advice.  This is a mandatory session.

Final videos will be uploaded to the YouTube Channel.

Step 8: Pitch at PITCH Night

Date: Tuesday, Sept 29th, 5P-6:30P

Pitch Night for Pitchers

The ten applicants chosen for Pitch Night will be invited to set-up their table demo’s to showcase their businesses to judges and attendees before they Pitch.  After table demo-ing, Pitchers will be invited into the main room to being the Pitch Competition where they will pitch their businesses.  Winners will be announced at the end of the evening!
