yOUTH STEAM PROGRAms
The Roxbury Innovation Center is a place where young individuals have the opportunity to gain access to innovation. Our goal is to expose the youth the tech opportunities that promote STEAM education.
Through our Fab Lab, we provide space for the Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan and surrounding communities to challenge their ideas and learn new ways to stay innovative.
We have teamed up with Northeastern University’s Engineering Department and the Timothy Smith Network to bring a STEAM program to Roxbury. Students (10 years and up) explore the concepts in engineering using LEGO Robotics to design, build, and test robots. Promotes science and technology to those who might not have access to robot engineering and design.
LEGO Robotics Program:
Students must be aged 10 – 14 years old.
The program runs every Thursday from 6:00P – 7:30P from September 19th – December 4th with the exception of holidays.
Please note, December 4th is on a Wednesday which is the Final Showcase. The Final Showcase takes place at Northeastern University, where students can compete against one another and all other Lego Robotics Sites in Boston.
Investment: $60 per student.
In these sessions, students will explore the concepts in engineering using LEGO Robots.
